Part of BHS

Polnoon is Affiliated to British Riding Clubs (BRC), which is part of British Horse Society (BHS).

BRC is divided into geographic areas. Polnoon is within Area 1, which covers the southern half of Scotland. The northern part is Area 22.

There are many benefits to being a member of an affiliated riding club, not least 3rd party insurance while involved in a riding club activity.

But the main function is the provision of competitions. There is a range of BRC competition run every year. These competitions are run as Qualifiers in each Area; area championships if you like. Finals are held in England.

Polnoon has had considerable success over the years, winning a number of Championships in a range of disciplines. A few years ago, Polnoon won the area qualifiers in every discipline and went on to take UK Championship victories as well.

Polnoon runs a lot of different activites over the year. Polnoon has a history of being innovative and leading the way. Here are some examples.

  • The club was the first in Scotland to run Trec.
  • We invented the arena event, although others now claim that priviledge!
  • The club had the first riding club website anywhere.
  • There are regular competitions in Dressage, Show Jumping, Riding Test, Showing, Games, Long-Reining and others.
  • Many and varied schooling with a variety of instructors.
  • Polnoon enters teams in most competitions; usually more than one team.
  • The club has an active Facebook page for chat and news.

Oh, and it’s a very friendly club too!

The membership year runs from November to the following October. Currently the membership fee is £25.

To join, download a membership form, fill it in and either send it in or give it to a committee member.
The Governing body of Equestrian Sport and Activities in Scotland

Polnoon is a member of Horsescotland (formerly Scottish Equestrian Association) through BRC Area 1 and the Riding Clubs in Scotland committee.

Horsescotland helped Polnoon gain the Awards for All grant, which the club used to purchase new showjumps and a trailer to transport them.

Horsescotland President Muriel Colquhoun MBE is a past member of the club.

Horsescotland works through SportScotland and the Scottish executive to represent all equestrian sports, activities and industries.

Horsescotland manages the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) in Scotland. The work done has built a pool of talented Scottish Coaches to take equestrian skills forward.

Training events with illustrious international coaches, such as John Leddingham, are run frequently and add to the growing skill set.

Visit the Horsesecotland web site for more information.

Club Sponsors

The club is very fortunate that it has had the support of many, wonderful sponsors over the years. Some sponsor a single class at an event while others sponsor whole shows, teams expenses and other things. Every bit of help is welcomed gratefully. Without our sponsors, the club would be much less successful.
